Dr. Keisha Burnett is Big Thicket Veterinary’s Lead DVM overseeing both our locations. She proudly represents Kendleton, Texas, just outside of Wharton. She attended Prairie View A & M University where she majored in biology and studied under the late Dr. Wendell Baker who was an amazing mixed animal practitioner and acupuncturist. After graduating from PVAMU, she went on to attend Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated summa cum laude in 2010. In the last 15 years, Dr. Burnett has practiced mixed animal medicine, taught tech school at Vet Tech Institute, earned a certification in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine/Acupuncture, and served as a leader/manager in multiple settings. She has a love for customer service and mentoring her fellow team members. Dr. Burnett is married to her college sweetheart, Jacorey who is an Ag teacher. They have two daughters, a cat named Teeny, and too many horses. In her spare time, she teaches children’s church, raises chickens with her family for 4-H, and watches movies.
